Hunting in Russia 


The owner and founder of The Sergey Khromukh

Has been working in international hunting business for almost 10 years. Captain of the second rank in reserve now, Sergey served in the Russia Navy for 25 years. After Navy, in 1994 he founded a tourist company that was selling exciting sightseeing tours all over the world for Russian tourists, providing them with all kinds of tourist service.

But being an adventurer by nature, Sergey always had passion for fishing and hunting.

He has been hunting from 1980 and got his first trophy  roe deer in the Russia Far East, Khabarovsk region. Since that time he hunted black bear, stag, moose, deer, wild boar, different kinds of birds,  enjoying the real wilderness and game hunt.

Tour Description

10 days of hunting. If the trophies are bagged ahead of time, a helicopter will be call up as soon as the hunters are done hunting.

The size of a hunting group is four hunters. Each hunter will be provided with a hunting guide and one cook for a group.

Hunters are transferred to the hunting area (Urak River) by helicopter on the day of arrival in Okhotsk if the weather is fine for the flight. 

Hunting

The hunters and the guides are transferred from Okhotsk to the hunting area by helicopter and then raft down the Urak River by rubber boats, having meals and overnights on the shore. Hunting bears on the river shore.

Tour Program

1st day:

  • arrival in Okhotsk airport
  • transfer to the hunting place (by MI-8 Helicopter)
  • introductions to the camp-workers/hunting guides; safety instructions, observation of hunting rules and hunting area specifics, tips on regional Brown Bear hunt
  • zeroing in; initializing GPS units and other mobile devices
  • hunting

2nd  – 9th day:

  • Rafting by boats down the Urak River and hunting

10th day:

  • breakfast
  • hunting
  • return to Okhotsk
  • overnight in Okhotsk

11th day:

  • breakfast
  • transfer to Okhotsk airport
  • departure to Khabarovsk

Accommodation during Hunt

The hunting group is placed in the tents on the river shore. Breakfast and dinner are cooked on the gas stove and/or campfire. Bagged lunch is provided daily. NB: please notify us of your diet restrictions/preferences beforehand.

The guests are provided with the tents, mats and field-kitchenware.

Maintenance Staff

  • personal hunting guide (one guide per one hunter)
  • interpreter/outfitter representative
  • cook

A hunting guide is responsible for bringing a hunter to the trophy animal within a gunshot range (e.g. in a Brown Bear hunt an animal should be shot at from a distance of 200 meters or less). During the hunt the guide handles all safety-related issues. The guide pretreats the trophy according to the hunter’s taste and takes pictures if requested. A guide stays with a hunter throughout the hunt. All guides are experienced in facilitating the visiting hunters. The guides are professional hunters themselves.

The outfitter/the outfitter representative supervises a hunt, assigns guides to the hunters, schedules the hunt and monitors trophy processing. The outfitter/the outfitter representative provides means of communication. The outfitter/the outfitter representative is responsible for all safety issues related with the hunting tour, he handles the first-aid kit.

The outfitter/the outfitter representative can also take responsibility of an interpreter and act as one.
A cook is responsible for providing the hunters and staff members with three meals a day (including bagged lunches for hunters).
